As a Green Wood Worker I'm mostly focused on pole lathe turning, but I do also carve objects with hand tools. I've been working with green wood since 2020 and focusing mostly on pole lathe turning since 2022. I'm using locally sourced wood and I've built my own pole lathe and I use self forged tools.
This way of crafting with self made tools fits my personal woodworking ethos and bodily engagement to the craft, and I find it extremely rewarding to be able to produce items with tools that I have made myself. Finding the balance between function and form is something that I seek when making craft objects. The items that I make are meant to be used on daily bases instead of sitting on a shelf as a decoration. As a craft person I do still constantly push myself to learn new techniques to create new shapes and forms. I bring inspiration from other hand crafts, such as pottery, and I believe that possibilities for woodturning are endless.
